Stephen: So what's a good rhythm for us to meet? - I did wonder about dark moon dance - it feels like there's some juicy shadow stuff to explore, and means we'll never be clashing with the women's dance.
Laurence: Hi Stephen... I’m in! I am more concerned with getting a firm, come hell or high water, commitment from 4 or 5 other travellers to act as a core before choosing dates .... then see what those folk can do?
Andrew: ... a regular date for 2018 … EG SECOND SUNDAYS… depending on the current AVAILABILITY
If Laurence is up for checking such an NTH SUNDAY pattern on the Hall site… ??... could we all get on with running it by regulars and then potential regulars?

HELLO ALL can we please ... WITHOUT PRECONDITIONS ... BOTH check our attenders wishes re regular date first ... , and THEN .. before may ... check those who are interested but haven't yet attended much so ... by our may date ... we can then hopefully include everyone interested in the IMPORTANT choice of a regular date thanks again to Laurence for this site I know its potentially breaking the habits of a lifetimes refusal to negotiate ... but perhaps the means ARE the ends Perhaps by allowing unconditional dialogue we get out of jail AND go to park lane all in one throw  shalom en sha,allah hey Laurence you got me on a forum !!! so lets someone check if there is a regular sunday available still...
and lets collect our preferences...
MINE WOULD BE THE FIRST TWO SUNDAYS ... as I have a few dates on third and fourth sundays
we should SIMULTANEOUSLY see if attenders are willing to pick a regular sunday ...
and get a quick sense of which are the preferences ... IF ANY !!

Richard: I agree that getting a firm commitment from enough men to establish a core group feels like a first step. Laurence's suggestion of 5 seems about right. Before last Sunday evening I was fairly ambivalent about whether the men's dance was worth investing in, and quite surprised myself in concluding yes it is, having heard from the others who were present then. This provoked quite a lot of thinking in me about my own commitment or lack of, to other things in my life. Won't go more into that now, but suffice to say I feel able to commit to 6 months, where I will attend (unless something significant prevents this) and will clearly inform other men if I am not able to make it.
I will also be there to help with the set up and clear up so that this is not a responsibility falling most heavily on Laurences's broad shoulders.
My suggestion is that each member of the core group holds the space and if possible provides music for one of the sessions.
Having a basic format re the balance of music and sharing time to work to without getting too prescriptive seems sensible, so we know where we are starting from. A regular day of the week would also help. Sunday works for me.

I think Richard's clear statement of commitment is really helpful and follows from the discussion we had in the group last Sunday. It really helps me that there is that kind of commitment to the group from at least a few of us, me included. In these circumstances it won't matter if other men join us or not. We will have enough people, a core, to meet and hold and follow through. I am with Richard in making a commitment to six months under the terms he described. I don't really like meeting on Sundays but I know there aren't any other evenings at St Matthews free so I can live with that. Where are other people with this?

Sunday evenings are best for me, realistically, and a monthly cycle, rather than a lunar cycle, will help us all remember when we're putting other dates in our diaries.

I also commit to attend for six months. can we also please commit to this conversation off stage as it were as Laurence and I have both been asking for the core group to share support ideas and energy as well as notional responsibility
can we also say whether we are willing to choose a particular nth sunday in the month and if so which I don't think anyone else other than Stephen and I have asked for this and only I have stated a preference (of the first two)

hello all it seems clear to me that the forum only works better than a general unresponsive and unfocussed mens email group if forum contributors commit and continue to respond yes no or something to questions and suggestions... so please reply to the following AND offer questions and suggestions which we can also REPLY to ... I cant see a date booked for may so can we please check regulars and put any nogo sundays in may ON THE FORUM so a date can be booked immediately? Laurence, could you please mail any regulars you have an address for this week asking for preferences? Thanks.. Leaving the booking of the next dance till May seems to me to invite doom ... Stephen and I have asked for a regular sunday. only Laurence doesn't want to go ahead with this. I think we need to check with regulars and get on with helping busy people fit schedules around us, otherwise we're losing active and effective potential members. This is crucial and if we cant ALL DISCUSS and decide this here, then I cant see how we are ever going to share organising. |

May is essentially impossible for me, so best to count me out till June.
I will bring a sheet of paper at the dance tonight for men to indicate preference for either 13th or 20th May ?
and I will bring another sheet of paper asking men to indicate preferences for which Sunday of the month in general works for them?

Hi everyone, since last meet I realise what valuable events these are and I'm feeling enthusiastic and happy to be a core member. Sundays are not good for me , cant do 27 may, 24 june 8thjuly 29th july off the top of my head. I Can do 13th or 20th May tho! I am interested to continue discussion around why men come but don't return, and what we can do in respect to participants expectations of free expression, limits and boundaries, feeling held, feeling heard, what next and weather we suggest post-event buddying or otherwise for support if men meet new aspects of themselves. Is the proportion of dancing /sharing right etc. thanks Laurence for all your organisation. X
